Cornerblog 30 years ago: Racquetball hits the wall
Once again a “new old” game is introduced to us. This ingenious game which is now so “hip” that everyone who is somebody or anyone willing to be someone wanting to be someone who is somebody should play, is imaginatively called racquetball, pronounced as racketball. Our reporters, who naturally surf on the wave of everything new and hip, assume that the name comes from the fact that it’s played with a “racket” and a “ball”.
The basic idea of the game is fairly complex: a player needs to hit the “ball” with his “racket” towards a wall, which then bounces the “ball” towards opponent, who happens to be another player, who then needs to, using his racket, hit the ball towards the wall so it’s returned to the first player who then hits the ball with his racket, etc… The game is played until one of the players miss the ball.
The editors of CornerBlog are expecting this new and complex game to be a breakthrough and revolutionise the racket’n'ball-games as we know them with it’s pure ingeniousness.
