The problem with abstinence, mk 2
I wrote a while back (quite a while, actually) about the problems I feel are perpetuated by the way the American establishment (a sort of sweeping term, I know…) go about their sex-ed for kids. Well, through Unspeak today I found this, showing that not only are millions of dollars going to making sure American children and teenagers are uninformed about safe sex, the money is targeting unmarried adults up to the age of 29 as well.
This is a bit odd, to say the least. Surely, it is quite inappropriate for any democratic government to fund propaganda promoting a lifestyle choice for grown up people, especially when probably 90% of these grown-ups have made the exact opposite lifestyle choice (ie. they’re shagging)?
Thank Christ (though I suppose he’s the bastard to blame for these religious nincompoops) that the republicans have lost the Congress. I’m hoping the Dem’s will put a stop to it.
